8 Aprile 2020Visita guidata a Castel Del Monte
5 Febbraio 2024La grande bellezza del centro storico
Often referred to as the “Florence of the South”, Lecce is the main city on Puglia’s Salento Peninsula and an absolute gem to discover. It is a mecca of elaborate and ornate architecture knowns as “barocco leccese” and jam-packed with gorgeous Baroque monuments. Lecce’s “centor storico” is quite small so quite easy to explore on foot.
Some of the best sights to see include: Piazza del Duomo – a lovely square of “barocco leccese” with its crown jewel, the Cathedral Madonna Assunta The Roman Amphitheater – this partially excavated “amphiteatro” dates back to the 2nd century and is located smack in the middle of modern and baroque Lecce Basilica of Santa Croce – the baroque masterpiece with its remarkable facade
If you want to admire the main monuments and churches in all the details, from up to down, then enjoy yourself watching the following video, made by Roberto Leone , who used the camera attached to a radio controlled multi-rotor drone to show Lecce as you have never seen before. http://youtu.be/ltpYKWSf754
